Virginia Foote, PA-C, is a certified physician assistant with Richmond Gastroenterology Associates, providing inpatient gastroenterology care for hospitalized patients at St. Francis Medical Center in Midlothian, Virginia.
Graduating cum laude, she received a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Religion from Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She was one of the first two students in her program to complete a concentration in medical humanities. Afterward, she dedicated a year to clinical research at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston.
Remaining at MUSC, Virginia completed her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies in 2013. While there, she also completed a Fellowship in Inter-professional Education Studies and was named one of two Presidential Scholars from her class.
Prior to joining Richmond Gastroenterology Associates, Virginia worked in Raleigh, North Carolina for three years as an inpatient physician assistant. She was also a Family Practice Physician Assistant on Kiawah Island, South Carolina.
Virginia first discovered an interest in gastroenterology when she was a student, and spent two consecutive rotations with the GI group at MUSC.
As an inpatient physician assistant, Virginia enjoys being a part of the care team for patients and their families during critical illness, helping guide treatment and coordinating outpatient follow-up after discharge.
She particularly enjoys diagnosing and managing the biliary tree, pancreas, and colon conditions. Virginia is passionate about patient-centered care and strives to help her patients understand their condition and treatment options.
Virginia was born in Miami, Florida, but lived most of her life in Charleston, South Carolina. She relocated to Richmond with her husband and two small dogs, joining Richmond Gastroenterology Associates in 2019. Virginia enjoys reading and baking, and spending time with her family.
