I am writing this review because I have received SEVERAL requests to do so... On my first, and only, office visit everyone was pretty nice. It's a nice office. I had a long chat with Dr. Simmelink. He is very nice, and seemed to really listen and care. I went there voluntarily for acid reflux questions. The majority of the chat was about lower GI, for which I was not prepared. While I was not asked a single question about my diet or fiber intake, we did talk about what was most likely causing a lot of my issues. Which I presented as a possible culprit. I was then set up for a endoscopy/colonoscopy and given a script for meds that I may or may not have needed. As I said, we didn't discuss my fiber intake.
The week before the day of my procedures I sent a message via the portal because I had been experiencing HORRIBLE rebound acid reflux from coming off of a year of Prilosec. I wasn't sure he would get a good "reading" during the endoscopy because of it, so I asked if we should postpone. Not one, but 2 people responded and in no way answered my question. So I kept the appt. I told the nurse and the doc about this the day of the procedure. I also reminded them both of the questions that I came in to get answers to. Long story short I have yet to get those answers. I was sent home after the procedures with generic "hand outs" of what he found. Exactly like you would get from a Patient First! With terminology that was in no way specific to me and what the doc just saw. All he did was confirm that I do, in fact, have acid reflux. I also didn't like that the doc spoke to my husband ON THE PHONE the day of the procedure, not face to face. Didn't speak to me afterwards at all. (For that reason alone I would never go back to this practice if that is how they do things!) Later I spoke to a nurse in his office who said she would have the doc call me (at a specific time) to answer those questions, and he did not. All I got was a notification that my script was ready. (One that I didn't even know was coming, and was CLEARLY treating the damage done by the rebound symptoms he saw! I'm no doctor, but if I could take 20mg of Prilosec every 3 days and be fine normally, there is no reason on this planet I should need 20mg twice a day now!!) She did attempt to call me back the following week, but as I'm assuming stress is a big part of my issues, I decided I had given this practice enough of my energy. I didn't even want to do this, but since I got 3 requests in the last week alone(!) I decided to go ahead and do this. (And the link didn't even work! I had to search this out myself!)
